A Day of Accomplishments
So, I haven't blogged in a couple of days. Sue me. It hasn't been a good couple of days. Besides, how do you all know I'm not cleaning or something? Now that we've all had a good laugh, I've got the blog of all blogs tonight. I offer with little explanation, your entertainment.
First up, I caught Marley laughing. That's right...full on laughing.
Next, the little stinker pulled herself up to a stand for the first time today, and Kaelyn and I got it on tape.
Can you believe it? Can you believe I got it on tape? I hope this means I'm forgiven by the three of you that read this. :) If not, stay tuned. I got some good material as if this wasn't good enough!

Happy Mother's Day to My Mom
After I didn't say bye to my mom when she helped and drove all the way out here for Rory's party, and I hung up on her when Lori got here to pick up Rachel while I was trying to apologize for not saying bye to her, I didn't get her a Mother's Day present...or card even. If you're still with me, I suck. So I'm dedicating this blog post to her and the things she has taught me. Don't be scared Mom. It's all good. I was going to have this whole list, but then I'll be up late typing and cranky to my own kids tomorrow, so this will be short and sweet. I'll tell you the most important thing she taught me.
In my family, my father handled our faith formation. We went to church religiously (get it?) every Sunday at 830a. We didn't eat meat on Friday, we gave things up for Lent, we used to even pray together in the evenings, but it was my mother that taught me faith. Maybe not faith in the sense that there's a God (I think she preferred me to make that decision), but faith in others and myself. She tried to guide me in my life, but in the end helped me most by having faith in me that I would make my own, right decisions. It was a blood, sweat and tears journey, but I came through.
I don't remember the exact age that my mother finished college. I just know that I was alive and wondering why she didn't do it how it's "supposed" to be done, after high school. It made me see my mother in a different light. She was a person who believed in herself enough to follow through with bettering herself even though back then it wasn't as popular a choice as it is now. She had faith in herself.
I tended to bring home a lot of strays in my wild, teenage years. Friends that didn't have a place to turn or needed help that their parents wouldn't give. My mother always gave. She listened to me when I would plead my friend's case for running away and needing a place to stay, or borrowing money because someone needed it. I always knew that even if she didn't always say yes, her first intention was to believe in these people and me. When I ignored her and went against her wishes, she still held it together enough to know that I would come back. I'm sure there were many times when she thought she lost me. I don't think she did because she never gave up on me. She acted like it sometimes, but she's an awful liar. :) You know what? It worked.
Even now when I come up with my crazy ideas or schemes (read as career wants and desires) she's still ready to back me with whatever I need or want because she believes in me. I don't know anyone with that unyielding faith, not even myself. Kevin comes close though. It makes me want to be that to my kids, someone who believes in them and helps them with whatever they want to do no matter how much I don't agree with it or think it won't work out. Every now and then my mom will say something like, "Are you sure about this" or "Have you thought this through?" But not once have I heard, "You can't do this." It's an amazing force that I hope I inherit or learn, and I hope I don't disappoint her with the results of that faith. Thanks Mommy. I love you.

Rory's Birthday Day

Well, six years ago at this exact time, American Idol is finishing and Ruben and Clay are the finalists and I have just finished eating Burger King (thanks mommy!) I can't believe it was six years ago. Rory woke up this morning at 530a. Logan screamed for his soother and woke her up. She couldn't go back to sleep, and can you really blame her? It's her birthday. For breakfast she got to have powder doughnuts which she took one bite of one, strawberries with whipped cream and marshmallows, and yogurt. We got her a bologna and cheese lunchable for her lunch at school and cupcakes for her class. Kevin worked from home and took Logan up to have lunch with her. I heard she was completely surprised and excited. She went straight to Nana and Papa's for dinner. There she made a menu of steak, french fries, and lemons. Nana added a few extras. Kaelyn made the cake which was a rose.

I don't know if you can get the full effect, but it was a good cake. It tasted good too.

She looks so old in this picture.

Getting her coveted American Girl Doll, Kit.

Opening Auntie Fifi's present.
She got horses which Logan tried to claim for himself. I have a feeling there will be many good times (read..fights) with these horses.

Hopefully there's enough to share.

All in all I think she had a great birthday. She thanked God for it in her prayers. She's exhausted as is Logan and Marley. Cross your fingers for good sleep tonight. And not to steal Rory's thunder, but I have to show you the video we got of Marley. Happy Birthday Rory!

Happy Birthday Rory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd like to start this off with a message to Maria. The quote is for your husband. Take care!
Now to my Rory. My second baby growing up. She turns 6 this Wednesday. I really can't believe it. To keep the tradition alive, here are 5 things you might not know about Rory.

1. She is outgoing, energetic, crazy, happy, and sweet. (WAIT! I know you all know that already.)

2. She lives and breathes Nintendo DS at the moment, even sneaking out of her room in the morning to get it and play it.

3. She hates to have her hair behind her ears.

4. She won't sleep under covers. She can only be covered by her blanket even if it's freezing.

5. She loves V8 juice like no one I've ever seen. It's the only thing that makes me think she's not mine. :)

I'll post a 6yo pic tomorrow when all is said and done. She has school tomorrow, so we got cupcakes for her to bring. As a surprise, Kevin is going to work from home and take Logan to eat lunch with her at school. She's going to LOVE it! I would say I feel a lot better than I did 6 years ago, but I didn't know I was going to have her and I had an epidural. I do recall a couple of hours of not being able to say anything but curse words. Funny how little things change as they get older! :) Get it?

UUUhhhh, dunno
I don't know what to title this. I was trying to think of something clever, but I'm tired. Then again, what's new? I didn't get much sleep last night. Logan was up for an hour from 2-3am. I don't know why. Anyway, I promised you cute pics, so here we go.
Marley, like any other baby, loves water bottles. I honestly don't know why we give her toys when we could just collect household items to give her, and she would probably have more fun. I tend to sit Marley on the bed in the mornings when I'm getting dressed and such. She has her trusty little hershey kiss man to play with, and this particular morning she had a water bottle.
For the record, I don't give them to her often because she tends to bloody her gums on them. I know, I know...bad mom.
