Rory

So...we had Rory's birthday and First Communion. All went well, and I was going to do this big long post of it, but instead I'm just going to roll the pictures.
Sam made the cake based on what Rory said she wanted. She's getting really good at these cakes.

Sorry, folks! That's all I can do tonight because it's 1030p, and I just spent the last half hour sitting on the floor in Rory and Logan's room making sure they went to sleep...after playing for three hours. Not a happy camper am I.

Gratitude Gifts

I'm feeling very convicted by this book I'm reading about being grateful for things. This lady, Ann Voskamp, is amazing...and real. I love her realness. Here are some things from my list. I'm not going to keep count because I'm not going to make it a challenge for myself. I'm going to make it a blessing.

-being able to focus in Church
-the breeze coming in the windows
-keeping my patience
-quiet time on the computer
-courage
-anticipation
-little curls
-belly laughs from children
-experienced phlebotomists
-11 tubes and still standing
-new hope for old problems

and here's a little warm and fuzzy for you all to be grateful for...

Prom...The Sequel

There are many things I haven't been able to blog yet. People are asking about the prom, so I'm going to move it to the front of the line. It's late. I'm not feeling well. I'm just going to roll the pictures.
They got back at about 1230a. After we got everything out of her hair, it was 1 something. Marley woke up at 330a wanting us to get her up. She cried for a while when we told her it wasn't time to get up yet. Then everyone woke up at 7a. Yay! I'm going to bed.

Games We Play

We all have those parent/kid games that we play and sometimes use to our parental advantage. Ever heard of the Quiet Game? I thought so. This was Kaelyn's favorite game when she was little. This and Ghost in the Graveyard. I was a great parent. She would just lay there quietly. :) Little did I know how it was just a preview of the teenage years.

Rory introduced me to a new game that I am going to suggest we play quite often now. It's called the Spa Game. Here's how it works.

I lay on the bed.
She puts a toweled pillow under my head.
She puts a towel along my hairline on my forehead.
A cold washcloth is placed on my forehead.
A fan is positioned a little distance away on low and rotating.
Then she leaves the room.

Her assistant, Marley, wasn't too keen on the idea of leaving the room. She kept coming in and adjusting the fan level to high. Eventually (about 5 minutes) Rory came back in and I got up. Then it was Kevin's turn. I told him it was a good time. Unfortunately, Marley again had a different idea to the care of Kevin, so when he laid down, she proceeded to whack him with the Whack-A-Mole paddle(might I add that it was not in a...welcomed...area?) Needless to say, I don't think Kevin got as relaxed as I did. It was nice. I can see this being added to our daily schedule.

Sorry...I didn't get any pics. I'll be sure to take some next time...tomorrow.

980-971

I basically got the idea of doing this list from my friends. They count down their "gifts" on their blogs. I started reading the book that they got it from today. I've had it downloaded for a while and just now got to it. I didn't know that the concept was to keep a running list...as in throughout the day. This changes things. Rather than reflecting on the day and getting my "gifts" that way, I'll keep a running tally. So here is my last reflecting gift list.

980. Reading words from someone else that mirror my own shameful thoughts...verbatim
979. laughs with a friend who just "gets" you
978. again...an enabling mother
977. realizing how important zumba has become to me because I find myself doing the dances in the shower of all places!
976. reading about miracles and discovering a few of my own
975. a doc that validates with just a smile
974. a husband that shares my load and probably runs with more of it than I do
973. Diet Pepsi...it had to be said(written)
972. leftovers of a good dinner...on a roll!
971. giggles from bathtime

Contrary To Popular Belief...

I tried to post last night. I had the screen up and the pictures downloaded. Then Kaelyn came downstairs and asked to talk to me upstairs. That talk that started at 9p ended at 11p. So I didn't blog. Now it's 10p, and I am trying to throw something together so you don't revolt.

I'm going to post pics that I wasn't going to attach to any blogs. Random pics that tell stories that I won't be telling you. :P Just kidding.

Enjoy!

Special Marley

It's a season of Marley...and not just any Marley...special Marley. I don't know why, but her pictures lately are ... well ... special. Just take a look.
She was sick in this last pic and didn't want to get out of her jammies. Adding the helmet was just something extra she did that day. :) She's definitely going to be an interesting teenager.

Happy Birthday, Rory!!!!

Rory is turning the big 8 tomorrow. I can't believe it. Words that I would use to describe this little being that I've been blessed with are...

caring
loving
understanding
bright
helpful
strong
courageous
outgoing
fearless...except for when it comes to getting her ears pierced

I could go on and on, but instead..I'll post some pictures of this little lady blooming.
I could go on and on, but these are a couple of my favorites. I just can't believe she's 8. Happy Birthday, Rory!! I love you!!!

Close and Personal with Logan

Since Logan's sick, let's talk about him. :) I had a meeting with a friend the other day, and Logan had to come along. He was having trouble not crying and whining, so I gave him my camera. Remember what happened last time I have him my camera? Too bad if you don't because I can't find the picture or the blogpost to save my life. Moving on...Logan with my camera...Part 2.
I seem to have erased the ones of my ankle, water cup, and purse...and all their different angles. It kept him quiet for all of five minutes MAX. He even took some video which I'm going to save you from. It's not interesting at all.

Logan kept steady at 100 for his temp all day today not needing any medicine. He donned his winter coat for dinner tonight again, and sure enough, he was over 101 again. Hoping he feels better tomorrow!

Some Park Time

Sometime last week when the weather was about 78 and blowy, I took the kids to the park. We didn't just go to any park, we went to Adventure Playground. This place has swings, castles, wooden houses, animal statues, music thingys, and all sorts of things. The kids love it there, but it is a bit of a distance, so it's something that normally has to be planned.

I decided that morning that we would go because it was a beautiful day. I snapped lots of pictures, so I'll let those do the talking.
I have no words for this kid. She got her foot stuck in her drink holder. Who does that? And then this face? By the way, I was not driving when this photo was taken. :)

It was a good day!

Italy - Day 4

On Tuesday morning of our trip, we woke early.  We had an appt. for a Scavi Tour at 930a and had to be there at 915a.  When Kevin called t...
