My Miracle

I went to the gym today at 330p. When I got home, Kaelyn wanted to go to Jared's, so I took her because Kevin needed to eat. He was leaving soon to go to a friend's house and help them with their computer problems. When I got home from taking Kaelyn, I came inside and started to make my dinner. Kevin got ready to go and left about 10-15 minutes after I walked in the door. He went to leave and said, "Why did you park across the street?" I didn't answer thinking he was busting my chops for not being fully in the gravel or something silly like that. (cuz it's such a far stretch to think that Kevin would be joking with me about something) He said is again, "Nora! Why did you park across the street?" I came to the door and the car was across the street in our neighbor's driveway/yard.

I thought for a split second that Kevin had moved it there to joke with me again! Can you tell he jokes with me too much? Anyway, he said he didn't move it. He went across the street while I screamed that I put the parking brake on. He drove the car over in front of the house and said he did so with the parking brake on as I had it. Apparently, I hadn't pulled up on it enough. can you imagine?! I have to pull over to the right side of the road and circle to my left into the gravel in front of our house. I left the wheel turned and the car just rolled back, across the street, and into our neighbor's drive/yard. I keep saying that because it was half and half.

I can't believe no one told us. I can't believe no one saw it. I can't believe there wasn't an accident from someone coming up and down the road and crashing into it. I can't believe it didn't roll into the pole, or fence, or down the hill, or the thousand of other places that could've caused damage and money.

Someone's watching over us, and all I can say to that is, "It's about time." :) TOTALLY JOKING! Thank you, God, for taking care of us and our car this evening. We really appreciate it!

I Got Nuthin'

I can't really think of anything to blog about, so I'm going to just give you updates on our happenings as of late.

Kevin - Still working in the basement. I don't know the last time he went into the office. He's lost 9 pounds and is still going strong.

Nora - Trying to get more organized. Be more intentional about my living, and be a better servant to others.

Kaelyn - She actually asked the library if they were hiring today, and then offered to volunteer. She's signed up to go to Appalachia and help build houses again this year. She got accepted to the National Art Honor Society.

Rory - She was offered a part in the ensemble cast of Oliver for a local theater company. She's really excited! We started school last week. She loves reading time. I'm in the middle of reading them Little House on the Prairie books.

Logan - He is loving school...especially Math. Who knew? He did 12 pages on his first open of the book. He's about to go to VBS for his first time next week. Cross your fingers!

Marley - What is there to say about Marley? She's wonderful and so funny. This is very important to Marley...being funny. When she does something bad and you tell her to stop, she says, "but it's so funny!" Her vocabulary is rapidly growing and like her brother and sisters, she is very intelligent.

Moki - He's a big freak. So...the same as always.

And there you have it. Later!

Happy Birthday, Brian!!!

Today is my brother-in-law, Brian's, birthday. I'm going to steal an idea from my friend, Beckie, and for his birthday make an acrostic for him.

B-Bald (Hahaha...hohoho...hahaha)

You know you all were thinking it. Ok...for real though...B is for Bob the Builder. Can Brian fix it? Yes, he can! Brian can fix almost anything. That's his job in real life too...fixing things. We call on him when most things in our house break. He also does woodworking...like making things out of wood. He's very handy!

R-Ribs

Did you know that this boy can make some ribs? I'm not a big rib eater, but Brian's are really something. I had only ever had my parent's ribs and wasn't really interested in trying anything else because while I don't mind ribs, I don't go searching for them. I tried Brian's one day, and I was hooked. Seriously.

I-In To Something

Brian is always in to something...R/C Cars, Helicopters, Beer, Bikes
, name it and he's probably had a passion for it at some point. He gets into these hobbies..obsessed and then moves on. It's crazy. Sometimes I think he has a certain dollar amount that he has to spend before he allows himself to move on to the next venture. :)

A-Actor

:) Did you know that he was once on America's Most Wanted? He portrayed this guy who shot someone. Even when he's not on TV, he's quite entertaining all the time. :) Plus, he has his dramatic moments too.

N-Niiiiiccceee

This is Brian's favorite word. All drawn out like that too. He says it in response to almost everything, if he likes what you're saying. For instance, here are some examples.

Nana-"And then this tufted titmouse (it's a bird, people!) swooped in and knocked that male squirrel off the fence!"

Brian-"Niiiiiccceee."

Kevin-"And then I was like, come on, guy. Of course you don't connect the UC cable to the AB drive. It'll ruin the failover."

Brian-"Niiiiiccceee."

Jerry-"I lost 11 pounds this week. Nanananabooboo." (ok, he didn't really say that, but he did lose 11 pounds this week)

Brian-"Niiiiiccceee."

Nora-"So I told her that she could buy this tote for this price and get this one half off!"

Brian-"Niiiiiccceee."

Paula-"Brian, stop saying ""Niiiiiccceee. It drives me crazy."

Brian-"Niiiiiccceee."

Happy Birthday, Brian. I hope you have a great one!

A Bucy Graduation

Did I catch your attention? Who's graduating? It's MARLEY!

Marley has graduated from using the high chair to a real chair. To top it off, it was Kevin that graduated her. Yeah...the guy who can't stand messes. Nope...I don't know what he was thinking. Instead of a messy tray, there's a messy chair or chair pad, depending on what mood she's in. She doesn't normally eat her breakfast in her high chair or her lunch for that matter, so I guess it makes sense. Here's an action pic.
Congratulations, Marley!

Park Days

The weather this week has been wonderful. I love days like these when it's not too hot and not too cold. Jeans, t-shirt, and flops is my most comfortable uniform. We went to our normal park the other day, and it was overtaken by public middle schoolers. It was too much and we ended up leaving immediately. On the way out I stopped and asked a couple if they knew of any more parks in the area. They mentioned the Old National one. I knew of it but had never been there.

It was awesome! The kids loved it and the best part was that there were no middle schoolers there. Here are some pics of the good time.
Future blogger taking pics.
It was a great day!

Fresh From The Morning Blog

For Logan's birthday last year, I bought him some GI Joes. Not the little plastic ones, but bigger than Barbie and mobile like her too. He plays with them on and off. This morning he came into the kitchen and asked Kevin to take the pants off of one of the men. Kevin said no because, "I don't like you disrobing your GI Joes." Logan says, "But I like them naked with only their boots on. See?! This one's naked with only his knee pads and boots on!

Nana Has A Secret

She is a closet Wii-er. At Rory's party the kids had some time in the "Yard" which has Wii, Kinect, Basketball, Dancing...etc. While the kids were running around, I looked for Nana. Here she was...
In case you can't make it out, she's bowling.
Look at her face...that's concentration, folks!
Unfortunately she found it late in the party, and it was time to pack it up. Here's my thought, Papa should buy a flat screen TV for their living room and then Nana can get a Wii. I guess she could just go next door whenever she wants too and use their Wii, but that wouldn't be as fun.

These Are The Days Of Our Lives

Here's a little look into our daily lives. Please note that all these things did not happen in one day; hence, I am here to write about them.

See that? That's gum in Rory's hair. Logan laughed at something she said in the car, and it flew out of his mouth and in to her hair. First I tried rubbing alcohol and then peanut butter followed by a shower. It worked.
This is what happens when Marley gets the Sharpie and finds Logan's head. Here's how our conversation on the matter went.

Me: Marley, you can't write on Logan's head...especially with a Sharpie.
Marley: But I like to draw.
Me: I understand that, Marley, but you can't draw on people.
Marley: Yes, Mommy.

Moving on to Communion AND Gifts

Well, I'm still trying to play catch-up. Here's some of Rory's Communion footage. I don't have a lot of good stuff because I haven't read the manual on my new camera, so they all have red eye. Sorry about that. Let's roll...
Do you see the hitchhiker on the top right of Rory's Communion banner? It's a stinkbug. Does that mean good luck?
We interrupt this program because I found a picture of one of Rory's birthday presents. She begged for an Egyptian costume because one of her friends had one. This is what she got.
We now return to our regularly scheduled program.
Now...on to my gift list.

-watching a brotherly love moment
-new friends in the making
-smiles of loved ones
-witnessing happy kids in a yard they can run around in
-sprinklers
-love touches
-that moment when you catch your breath because you don't have anything that needs done right at that moment
-hope for better things

Italy - Day 4

On Tuesday morning of our trip, we woke early.  We had an appt. for a Scavi Tour at 930a and had to be there at 915a.  When Kevin called t...
