Beach Blogging

Do you feel loved?  I know...no blog in a week, and I'm sorry about that.  I was packing and ... well, here's one from our vacation.  So far, our routine is wake up, beach, lunch, nap, outside, popsicles, and shopping.  We're running into difficulties with the weather and hotness.  We don't want to mini golf because it's really hot, and we're not really sure we have the age group for it anyway.  R and D would be fine, but I don't think the rest would have much interest.

This house is tiny.  The stairs leading to the upper level open right into the first bedroom.  You walk through that to get to the other bedroom.  Anyone who knows me and my children's sleep schedules can imagine my shock and sheer panic as to seriously thinking I was facing a week without any sleep.  We figured it out.  M is still holding out as being the most messed up in it all while R and L are loving not going to bed until 9p!  It's the same as at home, but they're actually up and watching tv instead of playing in their room.

One thing is for certain, we will not starve.  Maria and I have bought a bunch of groceries, and we're already into making another list for a grocery run.  We've been good and have made all our breakfasts, lunches, and dinners so far.  Kaelyn is craving crab (*shocker*) so we'll probably eat out tomorrow.

I'm just going to roll through these pics.

Anybody notice anything in particular about those beach pictures?  Kevin isn't wearing his sunglasses.  The sea has claimed them again...for the second time.  He lost them in Myrtle Beach a while back, then scratched the heck out of that pair on vacation, and now...a wave crashed into him while he was holding M.  He tried to turn them around, but not without losing his glasses to hold on to her.  He's not very happy about it.  Stay tuned.

More Logan...

This is a lot for Logan, and we won't be done with his birthday until the last celebration with my parents on Saturday.  Whew!  Here are some shots from Nana and Papa's party for him.

I love this picture.  We have a little photo frame of Kevin and his brother when they were younger.  This picture of Logan looks spot on to that of Kevin in the picture.  Kevin doesn't think so, but it's hard to see yourself in others.  I wish it had turned out more clear.  It's a little blurry.  :(
So...I shopped Walmart's section of Halloween costumes AFTER Halloween when they were all discounted.  I got one for Rory and one for Logan.  I looked for little Mars, but there wasn't anything.  I then hid said costumes this whole time and gave Rory hers on her birthday, and now Logan his.  This is shocking, people!  I was so gosh darn proud of myself!
My niece, Samantha, made this cake.  I think she hit Logan all the way down to the mushrooms around the cake.  :)  And the DS on top?  Perfect!  We found Lego candles at the grocery store.  Pretty cool.
It wouldn't be complete without a little Spidey pinata.

Logan's Birthday Celebrations

*Continuing with the red theme for Logan*

It has been a busy Logan weekend.  Friday morning we went to our family friends' house.  They have a pool, so we all swam, had lunch, cake, and ice cream.  Then we swam some more.  It was a great day.  Our kids get along so well, and the parents do too.  :)  Here are some pics...
Logan is getting so comfortable in the water.  I can't believe he's jumping in and going under.  It seems like only yesterday, he would freak out if he went under water when he jumped in.  This is all do to the time he fell off the ladder and it took me a bit to get to him.  I had been watching Rory go down the slide for the first time.  Anyway, he was scorned.  I was scorned.  It took him two years to recover.  Me?  Not yet.
Then Mr. C showed us how he flips E in the air.  Rory said she wanted to try it.  Then before you know it, we were practicing for a pool Cirque du Soleil.

Then Logan saw it and wanted to try it.  What?!  He just got used to jumping in and letting his head go underwater.
He is making leaps and bounds with this whole water thing.  We were going to get him private swimming lessons to get him more comfortable.  I'm glad we didn't because it would've been a waste of money.
Logan and Kaelyn joined forces for a little snuggle.
I love this picture!  They look great!
Is it funny that this cake turned out in ketchup and mustard colors?  I had this great idea to spell it out in m&ms.  It didn't turn out so well.
This is Mr. C's tribute to me being interested in people's chews.  Don't ask.  Good pic!
It was a GREAT time!  Thanks C family!

Happy Birthday, Logan!!!!!

I am doing this blog in red because it's Logan's next favorite color after gray.  Gray wouldn't show up on the white background.  Today, Friday the 6th, is Logan's 6th birthday!!!  True to form except for some neglected nephews recently (whom I'll be catching up on) here is Logan's birthday acrostic.  Have I thanked you enough Beckie for letting me steal this from you?  :)

L- LACKADAISICAL  Logan has never had a need to move very fast or care a lot about certain things.  Oh, he gets excited for sure, but he's normally just a laid back, slow mover.  It's a sharp contrast to his sisters!  He does have his moments, but he reminds me so much of Kevin.  They don't let their feathers get ruffled...much.  Even his talking is lackadaisical.  He does this thing where he draws out the last sound of each word and goes up at the end...like wor-urd.  Kevin hates it.  He says he sounds like Forrest...Forrest Gump.  He can definitely be described as doing things in his own time.

O- ORNERY  This could really be used for anyone in this family.  He's just ODD.  He can't go anywhere by himself...downstairs...to the bathroom.  When he has to go to the bathroom at my in-laws (which is upstairs) or downstairs at our house, he'll stand there until someone goes with him.  Normally this person is Marley.  I'll actually say, "Marley?  Can you come take your brother to the bathroom?"  She'll come get his hand and say, "Ok.  Come on, Logan."  It's cute, but really?  I might have to send them to the same college at this rate.  He has to always play with the curtains or something else weird.  Everyday I have to say, "Logan!  Stop playing with the curtains.  You're going to break them."  They he'll start to do something else, and I'll notice he's gone right back to it.  It's like he doesn't realize he's doing it...like an afterthought.  It's the craziest thing.

G- GULLIBLE  Logan is trusting of those he loves.  When they scare him or joke with him, he's a little sensitive.  It's never a good reaction when you jump out at him, and a crying fit will ensue.  I think he gets this from me.  I've always had to learn the hard way that people can sometimes not be so nice.  Hopefully, Logan keeps some of his innocence in this matter.

A- AVID GAMER  I hate to be one of those moms who lets their kid play too many video games, but I am.  I limit his access.  His dad doesn't.  HA!  Logan loves his DS, and I'm ok with that as long as it's not for lengthy periods, before school is done, or before lunch.  He's a good student too, so he has his downtime.

N- NORA'S WITTY SENSE OF HUMOR  Logan has got a sense of humor.  It's dry and quick witted.  It's just like mine.  He has some of Kevin's too.  Kevin likes the slapstick stuff that I just mindlessly stare at while waiting for them to do or say something funny.  I think a little of that might have snuck into Logan as a wee one.  When he was a baby, Kevin would hold him every night while he slept, and he would watch "Whose Line is it Anyway."  Do you remember that show?  Kevin would laugh so hysterically outloud while holding Logan that he would have to cover his mouth.  I would always get upset at him for it.

There you have it...the wild, wacky world of Logan.  Happy Birthday, Log.  I love you to infinity plus one.

See that at the bottom of the picture?  That's the scale saying that he weighed 10 lbs. 4 oz.  And in case you're asking in your head, yes.  I had him naturally...with an epi of course!
His head is so huge!  What's that cartoon where the bad guys head is much larger than his little body?  The guy is a blue alien.  Anyone know?  Notice the way he's sitting.  Each of my kids sits this way at leisure.  Kevin does it too.  Kaelyn, not so much.  I can't do it at all!  I've tried numerous times.  Well, I can do it, but Kevin says I'm doing it wrong because my heels aren't to the floor.

Dear Lady at the Pool Today...

I am sorry that my 9yo saw your baby alone in the baby pool area today.  That she tried to rock him back to sleep because you were not there to do it yourself.  She is a very loving child and would not do anything to harm or wake a sleeping baby.  She knows this because she has younger siblings whom she has rocked in their carseats many times.  I am sorry that she lied to you and said she didn't do it, while you were screaming at her in front of everybody at the pool like a lunatic.  She was not "shaking" your baby nor wanting to do any harm to him.  I'm sorry you couldn't drop it and had to go on and on about it, so far as to ask my 9yo for an apology before we left the pool.  Maybe next time you could take into account that she is 9yo and that you are the mature adult in the situation.  Of course, there will not be a next time because I will tell my child to ignore your baby next time it is left alone.  Hopefully I will have the guts to say something next time this happens to one of my children.  I am rather upset that I didn't say anything to you while you were berating her already fragile self esteem.  Until then, I will pray for you and your children especially if that's how you talk to others' children.

Sincerely,
Mama's Gonna Knock You Out

Two for Two!

I made it back, and it wasn't that long!  Continuing on with the pic collage of 2026.  Here we roll... January This guy's birthday...
