To Keep You On Your Toes...Get It?!

I know. I haven't blogged in forever. Blah, blah, blah. Speaking of keeping you on your toes. The picture that brought me back to blogging...besides Nicole's birthday.
This is Marley sleeping. This big white thing in the picture is a mattress that is butted up against her closet doors because we have no other place for it right now and can't throw it out because it's a good mattress. Anyway, this is how Marley sleeps...with her feet through the slats of her crib. Kevin says she's just like me. I don't know what that means. Maybe that my feet like to breathe at night and find their way out from under the covers. Maybe because she's weird. Who knows?! For now, this is just the cutest thing, so I had to share it. It's going to take a while for full swing. This post is happening because Kevin and I were too lazy to go to the gym tonight. :)

Sorry, Nikki, and Happy Late Birthday!

My niece, Nicole's, birthday was July 22nd and I'm just now doing her birthday blog. I crapped out on my blog when everything got entirely way too busy thinking that something had to give. It wasn't until tonight when she sat down in front of me, brought up the blog, and mentioned she still didn't have a birthday blog. I didn't think the blog was anything anyone would miss, but I guess I was wrong. People like to hear warm, fuzzy thoughts about themselves, so Nicole, here is your birthday acrostic.

N-NOTORIOUS. When I first thought of this word, I thought of apparently what is the second definition of the word which is "publicly or generally known, as for a particular trait." The first definition of notorious is "widely and unfavorably known." :) That's funny. Anyway, Nikki is notorious because in my own world I imagine that kids and teachers at her school can say, "Do you know Nikki Bucy?" and the answer is always yes. She is a particular kind of person that is not easy to forget. Read on for explanation.
I- INTELLIGENT. When Nikki was younger I tutored her because her teachers thought she wasn't up to PAR. At that time, I thought I was awesome because I was working at the grade school as a teacher's aide. My one on one time with Nikki was anything but some time to help her learn something. Instead we all learned something. Nikki was manipulative. ;) That little girl didn't do her work or answer questions because she already knew it, and I believe she was bored. She could understand things that were being read to her, answer all the questions I asked correctly, but then go to school and pretend she didn't know a thing. Maybe it was because she found out the teachers didn't bother her when they thought she didn't know something. Whatever it is or was, to this day, Nikki isn't first in line to do her homework or work on an assignment. She knows her stuff and has a great "act" as if she doesn't.
C- CARING. Nikki is a very caring person whether she wants you to know it or not. She cares a lot about people, animals, flowers, grass, you name it. Some times she comes off flippant, but then turns around and asks where her birthday blog is. :)
O- OBNOXIOUS with a side of OPINIONATED. Nikki's "act" is to be obnoxious. I have to admit that she is a lot of the time with some things, but Kaelyn tells me she's different when she's not around people. She likes to push people and see what breaks them or drives them crazy. She's very good at it. :) If you try to have a conversation with her, you can find out that she has a thought on most things. Sometimes they are really bright thoughts that throw you for a loop. She's pretty much a constant surprise, but her name doesn't have an "S" for that.
L- LOVING. I really see this in Nicole when she gets around the littles. You can tell she loves her cousins. She constantly wants to play and love little Marley and will entertain Logan and Rory easily. She knows "kidspeak" because they are enthralled by their older cousin. I had to choose between "loving" and "laughs" for this one because where Nikki is, there is almost always someone there laughing.
E- ENERGETIC. I think that once Nikki is up, she's ready to go. However long it takes her to make that step out of bed may be a different story, but once on her feet...watch out! She's high energy, high maintenance, lots of fun, almost always laughing, and generally an all around good time to be around.

Happy Birthday, Nicole. Sorry it's late, and I hope you like your blog!

Happy Birthday, Dale!!!

Friday, July 8th is my nephew, Dale's, birthday. Happy Birthday, Dale!! Here is your acrostic.

D- Distant...He lives in Canada, so that's what comes to my mind. It was always my dream to live next door to Maria and have our kids grow up together. For that to happen, they have to move to the states. I keep hoping and praying. I doubt our husbands do though. :)
A- Athlete...Dale does many sports; hockey, soccer, swimming. He's good at all of them, but I don't know that he has a choice with the whole hockey thing. It might be his destiny. :)
L- Little...As in Little Dale. His dad is Dale too, so to distinguish, we call him little Dale. I don't know why we don't call him Dale Jr. He is a Jr. Maybe I'll ask Ri that next time I talk to her.
E- Energetic...Aren't all kids though...and especially boys? Little Dale can be calm and cool too. He's a good mix. Laid back when he needs to be and bringing on the energy when he needs too.

He's a great boy. He kind, loving, smart, funny, and such a gentleman. He says, "Pardon me?" with his Canadian accent and it sounds so cute! He's a year younger than Rory and their relationship is more of a sibling than that of a cousin. They love each other one minute and are at each others throats the next. It's funny to see.

Happy Birthday, Dale...from all of the Bucy's. We love you!

Happy Birthday, Logan!!!!!

It's Logan's birthday today, Wednesday July 6th. I'm blogging this late on the 5th, so I didn't want you to get confused. :) Here is Logan's acrostic.

L- LOVING...He's still a little boy, so I contribute that to some of it. He's snuggly, and huggly, and cheeky. We have this thing, since I can remember, where we rub our cheeks up and down one another's cheek. This usually takes place when he's sitting on my lap, or I'm holding him. Only Logan does it with me and only Logan ever has. I love it!
O- OVERLY SENSITIVE...What can you say? He lives in a house with 4 girls. Still...Logan has moments of extreme sensitivity and drama. He's certainly not afraid to whine and cry at the drop of a hat. He's not a fan of changes or new things, but he's loosening up a bit. Thank goodness!
G- GAMER...Logan is addicted to the Wii and DS and let's not get started on Papa's iPad. This does not make me happy but luckily we've got it to where he only plays a little with daddy when he gets off from work...or when I need to focus on something with just Rory and he's sick of playing with Marley. :) I think he likes it so much because Kevin likes it so much too, and he knows this, and he wants to be like his daddy. That's it in a nutshell really.
A- ACROBAT...This is a new one. Logan is constantly rolling and bending and contorting...all the time. When we were getting ready for bed one night, Kevin said he was in a full headstand on his bed when he fell off the bed and got hurt. It might be the weight ratio difference from his head and his body. :) He is constantly twisted into some sort of stance.
N- NOBLE...Logan is always making sure to look out for his sisters. He gets upset if Rory gets in trouble or Marley isn't holding his hand when crossing the street. Kevin and I are trying to instill in him that chivalry. He doesn't quite understand why his sisters all get the snack bag, drinks, or served before him, but he takes it most of the time. He's a great brother!

Happy Birthday, Logan! I love you!

Happy Birthday, Drake!!!

Today (4th of July) is my nephew, Drake's, birthday. He's Canadian, but he was born on the 4th of July, so it kind of balances him out. :) Drake turned one today, and I'm ashamed to say that we went to his birthday party (my sister and fam are in town for July from Canada) and I forgot my camera. I can only say that it's been a while since I blogged, so I'm rusty...AND I had my camera at Vacation Bible School all last week and forgot to put it back in my purse.

So I have no pics of one-year-old Drake, but I'm still going to blog for him. Since he's only one, I'm going to do another acrostic. (Thanks again, Beckie, for the idea!)

D- Darling...What one-year-old isn't, but this is my nephew, so he's extra darling.
R- Round and Round. This is in reference to how he spins in your arms while you're trying to hold him. Seriously, he is a wiggle worm. And he really does just go in circles.
A- Adorable...He's so cute! He smiles a lot and giggles. Maria says that he has this mad Scientist giggle and shake, but I haven't seen it yet.
K- Kissable Cheeks...They're so fluffy! (Name that movie)
E- What you say at the end of his name if you want to call him what everyone in his family calls him, Drak-Ey. I think maybe later he'll have a problem with this one, but for now, it's cute. :) When he's a hockey player later, I don't know that he'll want people calling him Drak-Ey. Maria calls him Drake-a-loo or something like that too.

By the way, I know you love the color scheme of this here blog. Happy Fourth to all and Happy Birthday to Drak-Ey!

My Miracle

I went to the gym today at 330p. When I got home, Kaelyn wanted to go to Jared's, so I took her because Kevin needed to eat. He was leaving soon to go to a friend's house and help them with their computer problems. When I got home from taking Kaelyn, I came inside and started to make my dinner. Kevin got ready to go and left about 10-15 minutes after I walked in the door. He went to leave and said, "Why did you park across the street?" I didn't answer thinking he was busting my chops for not being fully in the gravel or something silly like that. (cuz it's such a far stretch to think that Kevin would be joking with me about something) He said is again, "Nora! Why did you park across the street?" I came to the door and the car was across the street in our neighbor's driveway/yard.

I thought for a split second that Kevin had moved it there to joke with me again! Can you tell he jokes with me too much? Anyway, he said he didn't move it. He went across the street while I screamed that I put the parking brake on. He drove the car over in front of the house and said he did so with the parking brake on as I had it. Apparently, I hadn't pulled up on it enough. can you imagine?! I have to pull over to the right side of the road and circle to my left into the gravel in front of our house. I left the wheel turned and the car just rolled back, across the street, and into our neighbor's drive/yard. I keep saying that because it was half and half.

I can't believe no one told us. I can't believe no one saw it. I can't believe there wasn't an accident from someone coming up and down the road and crashing into it. I can't believe it didn't roll into the pole, or fence, or down the hill, or the thousand of other places that could've caused damage and money.

Someone's watching over us, and all I can say to that is, "It's about time." :) TOTALLY JOKING! Thank you, God, for taking care of us and our car this evening. We really appreciate it!

I Got Nuthin'

I can't really think of anything to blog about, so I'm going to just give you updates on our happenings as of late.

Kevin - Still working in the basement. I don't know the last time he went into the office. He's lost 9 pounds and is still going strong.

Nora - Trying to get more organized. Be more intentional about my living, and be a better servant to others.

Kaelyn - She actually asked the library if they were hiring today, and then offered to volunteer. She's signed up to go to Appalachia and help build houses again this year. She got accepted to the National Art Honor Society.

Rory - She was offered a part in the ensemble cast of Oliver for a local theater company. She's really excited! We started school last week. She loves reading time. I'm in the middle of reading them Little House on the Prairie books.

Logan - He is loving school...especially Math. Who knew? He did 12 pages on his first open of the book. He's about to go to VBS for his first time next week. Cross your fingers!

Marley - What is there to say about Marley? She's wonderful and so funny. This is very important to Marley...being funny. When she does something bad and you tell her to stop, she says, "but it's so funny!" Her vocabulary is rapidly growing and like her brother and sisters, she is very intelligent.

Moki - He's a big freak. So...the same as always.

And there you have it. Later!

Two for Two!

I made it back, and it wasn't that long!  Continuing on with the pic collage of 2026.  Here we roll... January This guy's birthday...
